Director's Notes for
Rocket Man

     When it came to reading shows for the season and deciding on what shows we as a company should produce, Rocket Man is a script that got stuck in my head. This script offers a very unique experience for all who encounter it, from the actors, to the production crew, and especially the audience.

     This show represents so much of who we define ourselves as within the world that we revolve through every day. Steven Dietz (author) does this so well by reaching out to the subconscious of the audience, allowing each person to inquire from within. This show allows us all to spend time with some of the big picture questions. What is it that defines us? Are we simply a result of the path we have traveled? Is there something more than what we perceive? And most of all, is the path that we have taken possible to back track and become what we have imagined it should be base on seeing those paths differently?

     This script does not simply represent a story, but lays the foundation for a meta-cognizant journey for the audience. Through this journey of self discovery or self rediscovery comes the reason for producing this show. It is our hope that this show will follow you out the doors of our theatre and interact with your life. If this is true, even for a moment then we are successful as a theatre company.
